Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Our Commitment to Human Engineering, Secure Software, and Responsible Technology

At Typewire, we believe technology should empower people, not replace them.

Artificial intelligence is changing the software industry, creating new opportunities while introducing significant questions about security, accountability, intellectual property, and the future of human employment. We recognize the potential value of AI, but we also believe that the development of critical software requires human judgment, expertise, responsibility, and accountability.

For these reasons, Typewire maintains a clear and uncompromising policy:

AI-generated code is strictly prohibited anywhere within the Typewire application codebase.

This policy is fundamental to how we build, maintain, and secure our software.

1. Zero AI-Generated application code

Typewire does not permit AI-generated code to be introduced into any part of its application codebase.

This prohibition applies to all application components, including but not limited to:

  • Frontend and backend application code.
  • APIs, services, and integrations.
  • Database queries, schemas, and migrations.
  • Authentication and authorization systems.
  • Security controls and encryption implementations.
  • Infrastructure and application configuration.
  • Automated tests and supporting application scripts.
  • Third-party integrations and application dependencies where code is generated or contributed on Typewire's behalf.

All application code must be written by human developers.

AI coding assistants, code-generation platforms, automated programming agents, and generative AI tools must not be used to generate, write, complete, modify, or contribute code that becomes part of the Typewire application.

This is not a restriction against innovation. It is a deliberate engineering standard that reflects our commitment to understanding, controlling, and taking responsibility for every line of code that powers Typewire.

2. Human-generated code and engineering accountability

We believe the people who build software should understand the software they build.

Every line of application code at Typewire must originate from human engineering work. Our developers are responsible for designing, writing, reviewing, testing, and maintaining the systems they create.

Human-generated code provides a direct line of accountability. Developers can explain why a particular implementation exists, understand its dependencies, identify potential weaknesses, and take responsibility for addressing problems.

We do not believe that accepting code simply because it appears functional is an acceptable engineering practice.

Software should be understood, not merely assembled.

By maintaining a human-led development process, Typewire prioritizes engineering knowledge, technical ownership, code quality, and long-term maintainability.

3. Why we believe human-written code improves security

Security is not simply a feature that can be added after software has been developed. It must be considered throughout the entire engineering process.

We believe requiring human-written application code creates several important security advantages.

Greater understanding of the codebase

Developers who write and maintain the code have a direct understanding of its intended behavior, architecture, and dependencies. This makes it easier to identify unexpected behavior, questionable implementations, and potential vulnerabilities.

Clear accountability

When code is written by our developers, responsibility for its design and implementation remains identifiable. There is no reliance on an AI system to explain why a particular piece of code was generated or what assumptions influenced its creation.

Reduced exposure to AI-generated vulnerabilities

AI-generated code can contain insecure patterns, incorrect assumptions, outdated practices, and subtle vulnerabilities. Generated code may also introduce dependencies or implementations that have not been sufficiently understood.

Prohibiting AI-generated application code removes this particular source of risk from our development process.

More deliberate security decisions

Human developers must consciously consider security implications when designing and implementing application functionality. This encourages intentional engineering rather than blindly accepting automated suggestions.

Stronger long-term maintainability

A codebase built and maintained by people who understand its architecture is easier to audit, troubleshoot, improve, and secure over time.

We recognize that human-written code is not automatically secure. Human developers can make mistakes, and all software requires rigorous testing, review, and ongoing security maintenance.

Our position is that security is strengthened when the people responsible for software can understand and account for the code they create.

4. Our commitment to human jobs

Typewire believes the software industry should continue to create meaningful opportunities for human developers, engineers, security professionals, and technology specialists.

We do not view the replacement of skilled human workers with automated code-generation systems as a measure of technological progress.

Behind every reliable software product are people whose knowledge, creativity, experience, and problem-solving abilities make that product possible.

Our development philosophy recognizes the value of those contributions.

By requiring human-generated application code, Typewire makes a direct commitment to:

  • Preserving the importance of skilled software development.
  • Supporting human employment and professional opportunities.
  • Valuing engineering knowledge and craftsmanship.
  • Encouraging the development of technical skills and expertise.
  • Maintaining human responsibility throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • We believe technology companies have a responsibility to consider the people affected by their engineering decisions.

Typewire intends to build technology with people, not by eliminating the need for them.

5. AI use outside the application codebase

Our prohibition specifically concerns AI-generated code entering the Typewire application codebase.

Typewire may evaluate or use AI technologies for appropriate non-code purposes, provided their use does not compromise confidential information, customer privacy, intellectual property, or security obligations.

Any permitted AI use must remain consistent with Typewire's security, privacy, confidentiality, and data-handling requirements.

The use of AI for research, general productivity, or other non-code activities does not create an exception to our prohibition on AI-generated application code.

6. Code ownership, review, and verification

All application code must be attributable to human developers and subject to appropriate engineering oversight.

Typewire expects its development processes to support:

  • Human authorship and traceability of application code.
  • Appropriate code review and testing.
  • Security-conscious development practices.
  • Dependency and vulnerability management.
  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance.
  • Clear responsibility for application functionality and security.
  • Our AI prohibition is one part of a broader commitment to responsible software engineering. It does not replace established security practices, independent assessments, or ongoing vulnerability management.

7. Our position is not changing

We understand that AI-generated programming is becoming increasingly common throughout the technology industry.

However, Typewire does not believe that every available technological shortcut is necessarily beneficial.

We choose a different approach.

We believe software should be built by people who understand it, maintained by people who take responsibility for it, and secured through deliberate engineering practices.

Our commitment to human-generated code is not a rejection of technological advancement. It is a statement about the standards we believe technology companies should uphold.

No AI-generated application code. No automated code generation in our application codebase. Human engineers remain responsible for the software we build.

This is the standard we have chosen for Typewire, and it reflects our commitment to our customers, our developers, and the long-term security and integrity of our platform.

Built by humans. Engineered with accountability. Designed with security in mind.
