Typewire costs more because your are a customer to us. Gmail is cheap or free because you are a product to them.

By subscribing to Typewire and paying for our service you ensure that your data remains private and under your control at all times. By contrast by using Gmail you grant Google 100% ownership of your data for the purposes of data mining and delivering targeted advertising.

Typewire is more expensive because we flip the Gmail business model. Where Gmail is free and monetizes your data Typewire is a paid service which protects your data.

How does Typewire compare to ProtonMail?

Both Typewire and ProtonMail share the same goal of offering a private and secure email service. However Typewire is focused on providing a feature rich but easy to use email experience while Proton is a broader ecosystem which tends to be more difficult to learn and work with.

Typewire is 100% Canadian owned and operated with your data stored only on Canadian soil. Typewire operates under the Canadian personal information protection and electronic documents act (PIPEDA). Comparatively, Proton is located in Switzerland and operates under Swiss privacy laws.

Typewire is the better choice for Canadian email users who care about data sovereignty, foreign surveillance or cross-border data access. Canadian's will also benefit from Typewire's support team sharing their home timezone and languages.

Can I cancel at anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your Typewire subscription at any time. Cancelling is a simple one click procedure which is accessed from your accounts billing settings.

Once you've cancelled your subscription you'll still be able to use and access your account for the remained of your current billing term. Once your current billing term expires we will remove your account and delete all data associated with your account to maintain your privacy.

Why should I pay for email?

We believe your email should belong to you. When you use other free email services you no longer control your own data. You sign away your rights and in turn become the product itself. The purpose of these platforms offering free email services is data collection. They own your data for the purposes of delivering targeted advertising and data mining. Without question, no business should ever operate on a free email platform.

Typewire offers a starter email plan with minimal features for basic email needs. We offer our starter plan at minimal cost for users to try the basic features of Typewire. Our starter plan includes the same privacy and security guarantee of our paid plans.

Is Typewire free?

Typewire does not offer a free plan. Typewire does provide a minimal cost starter account best suited for trying Typewire's basic features. We encourage all users to consider Typewire's basic or premium plans to experience all the benefits of Typewire's privacy and security.

How do I upgrade my account?

You can easily upgrade your account at anytime while logged in to your account. Simply visit the billing section of your account settings and then choose upgrade account. Choose your billing term and plan preference to complete the uprade process.

What if I need more storage?

Typewire's premium plan includes 50 GB per user. If you need more storage for your users please contact our support team. We will be happy to work out a custom billing plan providing the storage you need.
